Types of Latches

SPEP offers a diverse selection of latches tailored to meet the needs of specific industrial uses. Some of our most popular options include:

  • Compression: Designed for use around vibration and shock hazards
  • Slam: Provide reliable security with minimal effort
  • Bolt: Built to offer enhanced tamper resistance

Whether you need to prioritize convenience and one-handed operation or limiting access, you’ll find the right component in our catalog. If you need help, make sure to contact our team of experts to guide you through this decision.

Materials and Finishes

Our latches are available in a range of styles, including the following, to suit different industrial environments and applications:

  • Stainless Steel: Ideal for harsh environments due to its corrosion resistance and durability
  • Zinc Alloy: Combines strength and versatility while minimizing weight
  • Plastic: Cost-effective and lightweight option

We also offer a wide selection of finishes, including powder-coated and chrome-plated options. These coatings improve corrosion resistance, durability, and aesthetics. The specific finishes that we offer will vary depending on the material and style of the component. Before you select a material and finish, consider the environment that your hardware will be deployed in and overall usage conditions. More rigorous applications require durable options like steel or stainless steel. Conversely, if you want to keep the weight to a minimum and reduce costs, consider plastic.

If you have questions about what combination of material and finish best suits your intended use case, contact our team. An experienced sales agent will help you explore the benefits of each product type.

Quality and Durability

At SPEP, we value quality and durability over everything else. We are committed to upholding the highest standards and closely inspecting the hardware of every shipment before it leaves our facility. By conducting rigorous testing and quality control, we ensure that your components meet or exceed industry standards, including ISO certifications.

Don’t settle for less when it comes to industrial latches and access hardware. Give your customers the very best by sourcing components from SPEP, an ISO-certified organization that prioritizes performance and reliability.

What Types Of Latches Are Most Durable?

Generally, stainless steel latches provide the best combination of durability and corrosion resistance, making them an excellent choice for demanding industrial applications. Clients often use our stainless steel hardware on truck toolboxes, first responder equipment, and industrial machinery, as it can withstand the rigors of daily use.

How Do I Install or Replace a Latch?

The specific installation process will vary depending on the style of latch you purchase and what you are affixing it to. However, we offer mounting hardware and detailed installation instructions with every order to make the process quick and seamless. If you have any questions after receiving your order, you can contact our support team.

What Is Your Return Policy for Latches?

If SPEP made an error that necessitates a return, we’ll cover the costs after you obtain an RMA. However, if the customer made the error, we will only consider items for return if they are currently offered in the catalog and are in perfect condition. If we approve the return request, credit will be provided, and the client must prepay freight and pay a 20% restocking charge.
