Draw Compression Latches
Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products manufactures compression latches to fit a range of industrial OEM applications. A compression latch holds a door, panel or cover shut, and at the same time compresses a gasket around the inside of the door to seal out moisture, dirt and dust. For electronic enclosures, the degree of compression required is specified by its NEMA or IP rating.

SPEP Draw Compression Latches
While draw latches are used in countless applications across every industry, some OEM products require them to have a special kind of functionality. Compression style draw latches feature a spring installed into the bail which provides multiple uses. Springs can be either exposed or hidden inside the body of the latch. Although each option fulfills the same purpose, the aesthetics are different.
The spring gives parts a slightly variable grip which allows for engagement over a small range of distances. This is accomplished by stretching the catch past its resting position. The farther the catch is stretched, the greater the tension in the spring and the more compressive hold force is applied on the keeper. The spring action catch provides flexibility to fasten closed even when the keeper is not directly aligned, perfect for use in conjunction with lids and other designs requiring regular use and service.
Sierra Pacific Engineering & Products keeps multiple varieties of these parts in stock in our CA, TX, & IL warehouses. We run our warehouses with Oracle's ERP system for fast, accurate, and paperless order processing. Compression draw latches are available in both zinc plated steel and electropolished stainless steel. Our goal is to carry a solution that meets your budget while providing high quality. Other features are also available on these items including padlock eyes, secondary safety catches, and positional indicators.
