The result is a functional combination handle and latch that will not snag on personnel or equipment, avoiding injury or damage. Recessed latches are versatile and ideal RV, truck/trailer, marine, HVAC, and electronic enclosure applications. Discover recessed and other types of latches from SPEP.

How does a recessed latch work?
Our recessed latches include several parts:
- Paddle latch with a flat paddle-shaped handle for opening and closing
- Slam latch that enables a quick slamming motion for a secure closure
- Magnetic latch that relies on a strong magnet to hold enclosures like cabinet doors shut
- Folding T latch with a T-shaped handle that you can pull out for use and fold away into the recessed panel when not in use
What other types of latches do you offer?
Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products (SPEP) doesn’t stop at recessed latches. We offer a range of latches to meet the requirements of different industrial uses, including:
- Bolt latches
- Compression latches
- Multi-point latches
- Pawl latches
- Twist latches
- Slam latches
- Butterfly latches
Besides latches, our inventory also features additional key hardware such as recessed handles, pull handles and other pulls, and ring handles and other tie downs.
How do I choose the right material/finish?
Consider the requirements of a recessed latch, such as the enclosure you intend to latch, when selecting the proper material and finish. Components subject to rigorous, daily, or outdoor use require sturdier options such as steel or stainless steel. If the component is designed to be lightweight and experience minimal use, plastic or a similar material may suffice and can save on cost..
You might also consider several types of materials, as this can give the end product a more uniform design. If you find our inventory doesn’t have a recessed latch that fits your requirements, contact the team and an experienced sales representative can help guide you to your ideal options.
