Recessed Latches

From Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to product designers and engineers, industrial businesses rely on Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products (SPEP) for cost-effective access hardware including recessed latches.

Recessed latches attach inside a recessed panel for a flush mount with the surface of the enclosure or door. The result is a functional combination handle and latch that will not snag on personnel or equipment, avoiding injury or damage. Recessed latches are versatile and ideal RV, truck/trailer, marine, HVAC, and electronic enclosure applications. Discover recessed and other types of latches from SPEP.

Find the Right Recessed Latches for Your Needs

Category

Whatever your project calls for, you can trust our selection. Browse recessed and paddle latches, plus other parts you may need like replacement locks and folding T handles. Explore different designs, including slam and magnetic and other products with adjustable grips. Accessories for folding T handles and cam locks are also available, giving you access to quality parts that help reduce costs.

Material

You expect reliable parts built to last for your manufacturing processes. Our recessed latches come in durable materials to elevate your product design. Choose from heavy-duty materials such as steel, stainless steel, die-cast zinc, and brass. If you’re not working with metal components, consider alternatives like plastic, poron, and neoprene.

Locking

A lockable design is crucial to prevent tampering, a key feature for any enclosure that houses valuable equipment. Conversely, an unlockable option might suffice for other uses. Our selection includes locking and non-locking latches to meet various needs.

Finish

For a sleek appearance and added durability, you want a recessed latch with the right finish. Polished stainless steel offers an attractive luster, while black keeps a sleek low profile. Explore these and more, including zinc/chrome-plated and electro-galvanized, in our selection.

Industry

Recessed latches are handy whenever an industrial project calls for a door lock. Businesses across industries use this hardware for everyday operations, from emergency response to transportation to energy and food services. Discover the best options for your industry.

Type

Not all applications require the same recessed latch. Browse our selections of paddle, folding T, and folding three-point latches. Choose recessed latches compatible with standard and junior paddle handles, plus folding T handles. Our selection also includes cam latches and accessories.

SKU

Search by part number to find exactly the recessed latch or related component your project demands.

How does a recessed latch work?

Our recessed latches include several parts:

  • Paddle latch with a flat paddle-shaped handle for opening and closing
  • Slam latch that enables a quick slamming motion for a secure closure
  • Magnetic latch that relies on a strong magnet to hold enclosures like cabinet doors shut
  • Folding T latch with a T-shaped handle that you can pull out for use and fold away into the recessed panel when not in use

What other types of latches do you offer?

Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products (SPEP) doesn’t stop at recessed latches. We offer a range of latches to meet the requirements of different industrial uses, including:

  • Bolt latches
  • Compression latches
  • Multi-point latches
  • Pawl latches
  • Twist latches
  • Slam latches
  • Butterfly latches

Besides latches, our inventory also features additional key hardware such as recessed handles, pull handles and other pulls, and ring handles and other tie downs.

How do I choose the right material/finish?

Consider the requirements of a recessed latch, such as the enclosure you intend to latch, when selecting the proper material and finish. Components subject to rigorous, daily, or outdoor use require sturdier options such as steel or stainless steel. If the component is designed to be lightweight and experience minimal use, plastic or a similar material may suffice and can save on cost..

You might also consider several types of materials, as this can give the end product a more uniform design. If you find our inventory doesn’t have a recessed latch that fits your requirements, contact the team and an experienced sales representative can help guide you to your ideal options.

How do you install a recessed latch?

Recessed latches attach inside a recessed panel and sit flush with the surface of the enclosure. Our products include key mounting hardware like fasteners, clamps, rivets, and washers, plus detailed instructions, to simplify the installation process. Our support team is available to answer questions about latch installation.

Can you get custom recessed latches?

Our team of engineering professionals will help you customize latches and other hardware to support success with any project. They work with your teams to understand your specific needs and goals. After prototypes are approved, your customized components will go into production. We strive to deliver fast turnaround times on all custom orders.

How can you trust the quality of our recessed latches?

Quality is the top priority at Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products (SPEP), and we demonstrate this through our ISO 9001 certification. This certification indicates our commitment to globally recognized standards in quality assurance to meet and exceed the expectations of industrial customers like you who rely on our products on a daily basis.

What’s more, we offer a variety of components that have been thoroughly tested and certified to comply with safety standards set forth by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). This organization develops global standards for products that represent the highest in safety and performance. SPEP is also proud to be a 100% Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company, and each employee stands behind our quality products.

What is the return policy for recessed latches?

We cover the cost of errors made on our part that require a return. You will first need to obtain an RMA.

For errors made on the customer’s part, we will only consider a return for products that are currently listed in the catalog and are in perfect condition. Customers must prepay freight and will incur a 20% restocking charge. They will receive credit for approved return requests.
